King of Bitters : Andrographis Paniculata or Chuan Xin Lian in Chinese. Chuan Xin Lian (穿心蓮) ...

No, it is not the kind you buy in the pub or bar, but a small Chinese medicinal herb.
As the name implies, a tea made from the leaves is very very bitter. Used in Chinese and Indian Ayurvedic medicine.

It contains ingredients which possess astringent, anodyne, tonic,and alexipharmic properties.

It has been traditionally used in healing dysentery, cholera, and diabetes. Influenza, bronchitis, piles, gonorrhea, hepatomegaly, skin disorders, fever and worm infestation. Useful in healing wounds, ulcers,leprosy, and diarrhea. For red eyes, sore throat, tooth ache.

This little herb has been in my great grand mother's garden as long as I remember. I used to dread to take the concoction, and now, in turn my kids won't touch it.

The Chinese SING SAY or doctor says, according to the herb grower, you must use, 3, 5, 7 leaves, always in single form. I don't really believe, I just use some when I feel heaty or general unwell. It keeps your mouth fresh and rids the flurry feeling.

My friend B says, " It is very good for sore eyes , Just make a tea, and wash your eyes.
Most Chinese say it is good as a gargle for sore throat.

My younger sister Margaret. who is a professor in plant pathology remembers, “ Whenever we complained about headache, Mother would ask us to go downstairs and pick a few leaves of the bitter leaves. Then we said, "No more headache" But Mother would prepare for us and we took with a spoonful of sugar after that. “

Japanese rose and writing.

In August 2008, I did a similar post and it attracted 828 hits.

I liked the Japanese Rose, it is nothing like a rose that you are familiar with. In USA, it is called a moss rose. It is a succulent or a bush.

Portulaca grandiflora hybrids grown in Singapore Malaysia.

The common varieties in Malaysia are many-petaled (doubled) hybrids which comes in different colours: white, red, pink, orange and a white-pink combination.

There is also a single layer petal, and the leaves are broader.

Japanese Rose makes a nice ground cover, borders and beds in the sun. It also makes a good hanging basket plants.

My paternal Grandfather grew many kinds of flowers in the garden of his big bungalow.

The Japanese Rose has reddish stems. It grows like a grass carpet with green single thick pine needle like leaves. He grew them as borders for the opulent look, the one inch rosette-like flowers are beautiful and can be cut for a little vase. Grandfather’s footpath to the house is very long, and on both sides of the footpath are lined with the beautiful flowers.

The Japanese Rose blooms only in the morning under strong sun. In the afternoon, the rosette closes up into buds but they still look very beautiful.

In NTU, there was a ruling that residents could grow only in pots and not directly in the ground except at the gardening club allotment. I grow my Japanese Rose in pots. I have a whole border of red, pink orange and white Japanese Rose leading to my house. If you drive out from the North Spine car park, there is a nice border and patch of beautiful Japanese. Slow down and appreciate and smell the flowers.

Japanese roses make me smile. I started blogging much longer than FB. I wrote about my Japanese Rose. 

Some time last year, someone googled and found my blog. He asked me to write about his product. I told him, I am a writer, and get paid when I write. I told him, when I write for my interest and on my own volition, I don't charge. But if someone asks me to write, I charge. 

He didn't come back, which is a shame because I told him I would introduce to many  forums.

Yesterday, two of New Zealand’s most promising designers introduced their Autumn/Winter 2016 looks at the Wella Presents show to a packed out audience at New Zealand Fashion Week. 

The two Kiwi designers collections hit the runway under a collaboration of striking hair trends constructed by celebrity hair dressers Brad Lepper and Raymond Robinson and their Wella teams.  

Amy-Rose Goulding of Julian Danger and Shuai Zhang of ITZME teamed up with Wella tocreate a spectacular runway show with some of the worlds top fashion media, international buyers and industry guests in attendance.The two Kiwi designers collections hit the runway under a collaboration of striking hair trends constructed by celebrity hair dressers Brad Lepper and Raymond Robinson and their Wella teams.

brazilian button flower

Centratherum punctatum: (Centratherum intermedium) brazilian button flower or brazilian bachelor button flower. Origin : Philippines to Australia

This is a bushy shrub that blooms at the stem tips. The flower is about one inch across, with fluffy down looking petals and the purplish, bluish, lavender blooms making it a very attractive plant. The leaves are jaggedly edge, deep green and very attractive as a
green background foliage for your cut flowers.

Both the flowers and leaves have a good scent that my friends mistake the plant to be a herb. In a big pot, it grows to a meter tall. It grows from rooted cutting. I have also experimented grafting and succeeded

Your project my walk with food and flowers is now using 100% of its log size. If you don't want to lose any of your detailed data, then it would be a good time to upgrade. If you don't mind losing this old data, then no action is required on your part.

We've put together some questions and answers members have about their log size below.

Log Size – what's that?

Your log size reflects the number of ‘slots' that are reserved for you in the StatCounter database. Every time someone views a page on your site, one ‘slot' is populated with information on that pageload. You get 500 slots in the StatCounter database for each project you create. With upgraded accounts you get additional database space, which you can allocate to your projects as you wish.

What happens when the log is full – does it stop tracking? Do I have to upgrade to a paid account?

Absolutely not! When your log becomes full, we simply overwrite the oldest entry in the database, with information on new pageloads you receive. There is no obligation to upgrade.

How many visitors will be recorded by my free account?

StatCounter gives you a log size of 500 with every project created. Unfortunately, it’s not possible to know how many visitors can be recorded in these 500 database slots – it depends on the behaviour of your visitors. For example, if 500 separate people each visit your homepage once, then your log will contain information on all 500 visitors.

500 people x 1 pageload = 500

If 50 people each visit 10 pages on your site, then your log will contain information on these 50 people.

50 people x 10 pageloads = 500

Why does it matter what my log size is?!

StatCounter gives you lifetime summary stats together with highly detailed analysis of your last 500 pageloads for free accounts (more for upgraded accounts). In other words, your log size determines the amount of detailed analysis you can see on your stats. With a free account, detailed stats (eg Visitor paths, Came From, Keyword Analysis…) will be available for the last 500 pageloads.

Why did I receive a notification for this project and not my more popular one?

We have only recently started to send this new notification.

We added it to help our members know when their oldest data is going to be overwritten in their log. Some members have contacted us in the past, and did not realise this. They wished to upgrade and retrieve that old data but unfortunately that is not possible. To retain all visitor data the log size must be increased before it starts to overwrite the old data.

We limit the notification to a max of one per day per email address so as not to flood somebody's mailbox with notifications if they have multiple projects.
